So, what's being proposed here. Local/Regional congregations of disgruntled racers? Are we looking at making these inclusive, by that I mean using stock and super stock, both NHRA and IHRA cars? I think this would be good, kind of a super S/SS combo type race. I also think allow the .90 cars, both 9.90 and 10.90 but trans brakes being the only electronics. Take away the gimics and it'd be a racer's race again.

Admittedly, I'm far from ready but I will have two cars, our 66 Nova could run the 10.90 class and our 79 Firebird will be a legal IHRA crate motor stocker. I wish we were farther along, would love to be part of this.

Cool Re: What if ?

I was wondering what some of you thought of running sticks and automatics running together (maybe with a slight weight difference in the lower classes) heads up during the eliminator to #1 cut down on the number of classes to ease the "pain" on manufacturers pay outs...#2 having more heads up runs for a better spectator show????? Also the '90 class guys (and women) have thier own programs with or without the throttle stops. This would be an association for class legal race cars and as the Class Nationals from 8 years ago proved it can be done. The car cout was almost to much to handle without the '90 classes back then. I would also like to have conversations with the group the "Tanker" runs and the Carolina class racers after they are up and running. Im somewhat dimayed that more heavy hitters have not said anything about this. Maybe its because they dont think any idea or program is good unless it comes from the established associations????

I'm strongly for more heads up runs. The whole reason I am building a car is to run class heads up. I do not intend to go racing anywhere class runs are not available. I would rather lose heads up than win a bracket race. My racing plan is to go to Pat's race once a year and get into a local heads up class. I don't plan on being very active with any organization that clearly does not want me.

What class are you building your car for?

I am building a SuperStock chassis. My intention is to be able to run it as a SuperStocker, a GT car or as one of those horrid punds/cubic inch cars. That gives me maximum versatility with basically engine swaps.

I am waiting on engine selection until the car is finished so I can build it to be in a highly populated class.

Sounds good to me.One race on east coast close to Ky.would be even better! Would they consider tracks
like Mt Park (Clay City,Ky.)Kanawha Valley,WV. (Tri State,Hamilton,OH.)Edgewater Cincinati,OH are tracks I think of in my area that have parking are still good places to race and might be good bargains for the promoter. In my opinion stock, super stock and comp\mod classes would be plenty IF right date, place.
Track could maybe run regular program at same time like old IHRA WCS races Qualify-record runs Sat.
morning, maybe run class elim. or combo Sat.night. W/ eliminations Sunday.I know Mt. Park ran that way
back in IHRA WCS days up till a few years ago when they switched to double Pro Am,before double event They always had big car counts.
If includes IHRA pure stock I'm ready now! Hopefully quarter mile races

There's any number of classes you could combine based on indexes. Granted, some indexes have changed recently, but I put together a spreadsheet a year or two ago that showed all the classes that could be combined. Could be quite a bit of heads-up racing. You could say something like HP/1 = all 11.15 index classes, HP/2 = 11.25, etc. -=shrug=- Since we live and die by it, I'd just call it the HORSEPOWER Series.

That being said, if you're going to do a single stand-alone event this year, I'd suggest just leaving things alone and running it like the US Class Nationals. Since everyone would be there, things could be discussed on how people preferred a multi-race series for 2010 would be run.
