They tried that a few years back with the Divisonal and National Open all in one week/weekend. Wasn't too back just sucked trying to get off from work for almost a whole week. Nothing on the MG website but 4 days for a National Open is kinda long so I can see doing 2 races in a weekend. Only thing that sucks about this year was the weather. It was soo cold that once the sun went down racing was over and then we had rain all day on Sat.

I was wondering what happened also?, thats always a nice short trip for alot of us. Why would they continue to have that Open in Canada where there are so few cars they have to have that .90 combo class, and drop Island Dragway?, did Island Dragway not want it anymore? just curious.....

Pretty much low car counts killed this race. The fast cars stay away due to lack of shut down room.
SS only had a handful of cars last year.Stock car count wasn't too bad. There was an incedent at the payout window that didn't help the situation.I'm going to miss Island. It's close by and I usually go a few rounds there.
How about another National Speedway and Islip 1/8 mile again Carl?
As far as Hampton goes I wont go that route.

Thats too bad, we'll miss it also, we never had an issue with the shutdown with the SG car, the TS car is another story, but if they ran a Foxwoods points race there on the 1/8th, I think the guys would show up.For people east of Pa., Island was a reasonable tow.

What I would give to have another "National Speedway"...lol, When Hampton was the last track left, at least we had a local place to test, but yea, it got ugly out there. I dont think we'll ever see a new track on Long Island.
