Of all of the phone calls I`ve ever had, this was one of the toughest to hear. Jody and Toby,my condolences to you,as well as your brother, father and family. We all will have fond memories of your mom,and for me it is three hugs. She made you feel like you were her family, and proud of your accomplishments, but none like the ones of her boys. She beamed of her sons success, like all moms do,but she was also a part of the team. Janet,Mom,you will be missed. God bless. Lane

Toby,Jody and Lang family.I was very saddened to hear about Janet.Your mother was a great person to all of us.She is one of the big reasons it's enjoyable to go to the track and see friends.I am glad I had a good visit with her,in vegas last year while waiting in the line up. Shawn Kvaas

Mike and I just heard the news about MaMa Lang. How will any of us that shared "family style" moments with her during a race EVER forget the small woman that spoke softly but moved mountains with a smile or a kind word. We will cherish evenings spent bench racing outside that little travel trailer that housed one of the worlds most precious cargos, MaMa Lang. Our hearts break for Toby, Jody, Cody and other family members but we rejoice with them for blessings she brought each of us. I say with all honesty racing will never be the same for us without seeing that little red three wheeler zipping around the lanes.
Toby, I hope you will call us if we can do anything at all. Frances & Mike Bush Bushwacker Racing |

I want to send out my healing thoughts to the Lang family. Janet held a special place in my heart as I'm sure she did for everyone. Janet was such a kind woman. She always had a smile, a sweet Hello and a conversation for you. It didn't matter if you knew her a little or a lot, or saw her everyday or randomly throughtout life, she was always very welcoming. As you all know her life was racing with her boys and so I'm thankful she was there with them at the time of her passing. All my best to the Lang family and wish you comfort in your time of sorrow.

On behalf of our family very sincere condolences, Jody and Toby. I will always remember how your Mom took me in while I was out on the road in 1999 by myself travelling across North America. Hanging out with you guys in Shreveport and Dallas watching the Baseball playoffs, eating popcorn, and talking racing is a very special memory for me.
It seemed that Janet was *always* at the races, supporting not only her sons, but her many friends at the track as well. I always enjoyed giving her a wave and seeing her smile, usually aboard that classic three wheeler. Win or lose, she was always there encouraging me on. I miss her already. Jamie Clerf ET #6530 |

I am very sorry for your loss guys. I always enjoyed being around your Mom; she always went out of her way to say hello and make people feel special just being around her. She was truly one of the most dedicated drag racing personalities our sport has ever known.
I learned a lot from observing each of your interaction with her and observing how great of a "team" all of you were. There has never been and probably never will be a better team at qualifying and figuring out where you need to be on the ladder or figuring out the weather together. You guys took care of the competition on the racetrack but so much of winning happens before you even get there and your mom and you guys understood that better than anyone. I will miss seeing her at the track. Please accept my belated condolences. #1 Pro ET Last edited by S Kelly; 03-05-2009 at 12:18 AM. |

Our family was in shock to hear of Janet's sudden death. It is still even hard to comprehend. She may have been small in stature but was HUGE within the community of NHRA sportsman racing. In all of the years we have been racing at the same venue with the Lang's, I can't recall a single instance where Janet didn't pass by on her 3-wheeler without a genuine smile and a friendly wave, or stop to offer her congratulations on a previous win for someone on our team. To be in her early seventies, she was still sharp as a tack. She understood racing at a championship level as evidenced by both of her sons continued success over the years behind the wheels of their race cars. To see Toby and Jody at the races without their mom will be a very hard reality check for all of us. I can't even begin to imagine the grief that Toby, Jody, and those close to the family must be feeling. This sure puts things in perspective. Our thoughts are with you.
