All Ford sportsman racers!
After the success of last year's meetings in Indianapolis and Las Vegas, Ford Racing is starting a series of town hall style meetings at select NHRA events. What are they? An opportunity for sportsman racers to talk to Ford representatives, check out the new Cobra Jet Mustang, talk to our pro drivers, and enjoy some snacks and soft drinks. When are they? The first is scheduled for this Thursday at 7:30pm. We expect to keep these as Thursday night events at a total of ten events this season. Where are they? In the nitro pits at the Tasca Racing hospitality area. What can I expect? Besides soft drinks and snacks we want to keep you in the loop on what's going on in the world of Ford, both in racing and exciting new Ford street products. We'll also have a 2008 Cobra Jet on hand for you to check out. Who can attend? Feel free to invite your friends and fellow sportsman racers. We are open to even brand X racers dropping in to hear about the products they may be missing out on. RSVP isn't required. In fact if you'd like to post this and help spread the word about this Thursday feel free to do so. If I can't make Gainesville what's the rest of the schedule? Look for us at: Atlanta, Chicago, Englishtown, Norwalk, Indianapolis (dinner perhaps), Charlotte, Dallas, Las Vegas, and the finals in Pomona! This week we'll have Bob Tasca and all of John Force Racing on hand to mingle and discuss NHRA and Ford Motor Company! Hope to see you there! As long as the ride is covered in a Ford branded body, the pilot is one of the "family" by rights. If I were going to Gainesville, I'd drop by and thank them for doing something proactive in the midst of this economic doldrum. Just makes sense to support a group of enthusiastic folks.
Thanks Brian Wolfe!....even if it wasn't your idea.

Ford is really stepping out there for sportsman racers this year. It is great to see. I think it will positively affect all sportsman racers in the end as the other brands get on the bandwagon. I sense some posts on here reek of envy...understandable, but I think both Dodge and Chevy will have their turns as this plays out.
BTW, I think Neff's funny car is Ford powered.

Neff's car is powered by a real close copy of a Chrysler Hemi, assembled by Ford as per the NHRA rule book. They had no choice, thanks to NHRA's "Ingenuity inaction" slogan....
You thought maybe it was a 427 'cammer, or a Shotgun motor???? ![]() Get real....

Thats pretty cool that they are doing this, although I'd say its as much a Tasca deal as it is a Ford deal imho. And I can't speak for Dodge, but I seriously doubt you'll see Chevrolet in drag racing for a long time. I hate to be a debbie downer but this Government task force will run the company right into bankruptsy and ultimately oblivion. The government would never survive in the real business world. They don't know how to run a business, but they have the endless influx of taxpayers money to bail them out. I think the US automakers are doomed and I'll be surprised if any of the big 3 are still around in 5 years...

The truth is that they are hemi powered BUT My interest still lies with the Sportsman Races the only TRUE racers in the NHRA and I, for one am glad to see Factory's back in the mix....and I don't care what make is! BTW: Just read that they don't think they can save GM even with the but-out. |

RE: "Just read that they don't think they can save GM even with the but-out."
How do you take a company from the #1 auto manufacturing position in the WORLD to bankruptcy in just a few years? These people are talented.... and, I'm sure "golden parachutes" are no small part of the problem. If the folks who managed G.M. for all those years couldn't see the oncoming problem with all the UAW pension benefits that THEY were negotiating into the contracts every couple of years.... what were they doing with their time, running a company that size (and, earning millions, while engineering its demise.) That's a rhetorical question. But, shame on them.
