I love that they didn't give any warning. Isn't it usually customary in business to give a warning on an increase? I just saw the increased the price of the new Camaro but gave a week notice (may have even gotten a few more sales that week from people on the fence). If I would have know that I would have found a way to get the car to Maple Grove when they were certing last month. Thanks guys for making it even tougher for us all.

This is what I love.....
NHRA has not raised fees in more than a decade, and, given the current economic environment, NHRA needs to adjust fees to help offset some of the increased costs for these services. In addition, and at national events, NHRA will increase the insurance surcharge. I GUESS WE ARE ALL PAYING FOR THAT NEW BMW THAT MR. COMPTON BOUGHT..... EVENTUALLY NHRA WILL FIGURE OUT THAT THE SPORTSMAN RACER IS THE BACKBONE OF THE ASSOCIATION AND WHEN MORE AND MORE RACERS START GOING BRACKET RACING AND RUNNING OTHER ASSOCIATIONS (IHRA, EAST COAST S/SS, MASGA) IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO GET THEM BACK BECAUSE THESE ARE ASSOCIATIONS THAT TREAT RACERS AS THEY SHOULD BE TREATED AND DON'T HIKE PRICES UP WHEN THE ECONOMY IS ALREADY IN THE TOILET. I MEAN ATLANTA IS LESS THEN 2 WEEKS AWAY AND THERE IS 55 S/G CARS ENTERED, ONLY 1 D-1 CAR WHICH USUALLY DRAWS 10-15 CARS, AND BRISTOL WHICH A LOT OF D-1 S/G CARS GO TO ONLY HAS 8 CARS ENTERED.... |

Thing is you still need chassis cert to race at tracks so it won't hurt them a bit. They did raise national event fees before as they dropped the free crew member of $75.00 i'm lucky as i just recieved my new licence last week.

Well, due to events in our life, we're not racing much this year. We'll be able to take advantage of the discount offered to the spectators!!!!
Not sure if that is good or bad.

My Girl Lynn always putting a positive spin on things...haha. I think a lot of Sportsman racers will be enjoying the discounts offered to spectators because they can't afford to put gas in their race cars or get there cars through cert.

With the "enhanced" sportsman schedule still screwing some of us and my dad not being able to run SG at Englishtown, I'm seriously considering skipping that weekend and just running the Keystone's in SG as my National Event for the year...I actually did better in SG last year than SST anyway. Plus, that's three vacation days I can save. So how much is it with the increased Insurance Fee now to run a National Event?
(Eh, we'll see how we do in AC tomorrow night :P )

We wont even consider National events at this point, the expense is ridiculous, almost need a week off to attend, and if you are not chasing "World Points" (which we are not) it does not help your division points. So for us it makes no sense, and the "novelty" of being at a National has worn off a long time ago.

Aww c'mon guys...we all know his DUI court case is coming up and he can't pay the lawyers fees!
Dad and I talked about this and I feel bad for the chassis cert guys who maybe got a little extra for taking time out of their schedule. Not anymore...and as for national and divisional events, the words "been there, done that" come to mind. I am happier (and coming home with more money in my pocket, and not only from winnings!) running my Nova in Street and Heavy and the dragster occasionally in Super... Thanks to these "economic times" I am having more fun that I have had in the past...go figure!
