Ed, the fee's will cost me an extra $145.00 a year. When I can't afford it, I will stay home, until then I'm having fun with NHRA.

Maybe this is the reason that some tracks don't want to have a divisional event....

Here's something for everyone to chew on when I was out in Arizona for the D-7 race at Firebird we had lost early and since Tuscon was the next weekend we loaded everything up and headed to SIR. Now the track owner is good friends with my buddy John Taylor and he was telling us that he has to pay NHRA $ 20,000 to have a divisional race there for 350 cars. If he gets more then 350 cars he has to pay an additional 100 or 200 dollars to NHRA per car over 350. Talk about crazy since NHRA is already getting 165 to 175 per racer to enter the actual race. Not sure what the cut is for the track on the entry fee but, he has to have a booked in program (Pro Mods) since they bypassed TA/FC and T/AD at the track this year so he can try to bring in spectators.

Look at the stock/superstock associations. Many of these have 100% payback minus the gate fees.
If we had 200 cars show up at any of these races it could be viable. The problem is that very few support these guys and gals. Just change your schedules to go to a few of these races and the associations will grow. The payouts will increase. There is no major commitment on your part. Just take a detour to Earlville
or Speedworld or wherever. You will be suprised how much fun it is and maybe you will even make some money

It would sure be nice if someone would put together a Stock/Superstock association and series out here on the West Coast. I know the past S/SS races have not been well supported (I think in part due to the dates held), but maybe now would be a good time to put a series together (Mark Y. or Nitro Joe are you listening?). I know I have had about all I can take from NHRA, so I would do my best to support it.

Hey Brett, Great Idea! Angelo Phillips and I have been talking about that-Southwest Class Racing Association. We have a plan and an idea of a 5 race points series with individual payouts per race and a final pay out to the top 3 in points after 5 races. it would be held in conjuction with either ADRA or Az super class races. They would welcome the car count and offset some of their cost of their program and the shared event would equal more payout from entry and some of the sponsor money we are trying to put together. We already have some ground criteria, and it would be run by Racers not Promoters. It would be done for the love of the sport not profit for the promotion. We are seeking input and series sponsors(to help fatten the purse)I have run it by a few AZ racers and they loved the idea but all it takes is time, money and ALOT of self promotion. We have to let people know we exist!

Sounds good, but how about some races in So Cal so we aren't having to drive 350 - 400 miles to every race? Maybe a couple of races at Fontana and / or Bakersfield? I am pretty sure that there is a larger base of cars in this area, so it should be more beneficial.

A West Coast Sportsman Drag Racing Association I would support 100% .... NHRA needs a little nut knudge for this latest stunt. I better stop here or I might be asked to not post here anymore...
