so Jack, did you at least split with Kenny? that would be the gentlemen like thing to do, since you did flip for him.

Reading these posts makes me sad.
In the 50's, 60's and even the 70's we loved the NHRA and I think the NHRA loved us.
Are things really that different now or is Is it because we're older now and wiser (?) and see it differently?
I don't really think my perspective is that different now from what it was when I was young.
So, how could things have changed so drasticly?

The current payout grid for the Carolina Class Racers Association (100% payback) for 50 entries has a total purse of $3750 and breaks down to $2205 win $945 r/u $150 semi's and $100 qtrs. Imagine if we had 100 cars show up...and we are the show! Check out our schedule through the events section, our first race of the season is this Saturday. Just an alternative w/ a very good payout.

Jack, I'll take a runner up at Indy anytime. I'm not boycotting any NHRA race. This could be one of my best years, if no one shows up.

The above is what they charge the REAL customer at Indy this year. If I'm not mistaken, they don't charge squat for an entry ticket when the majority of class racers are on the grounds.

Why would this be? They seem to be treating you as not all that valuable.

Overpriced junk like $20 tee-shirts, snow cones, $8 hot dogs... $5 for some tepid, flat drink....Good grief, it would destroy the annual budget of any family to attend just two days of this event.

THIS is where you need to aim your attention.

Chad -- I was so happy for the win that the money didn't matter -- but in the end there was no question about it -- we split ! ! ! !

Thumbs down Re: Unmitigated Greed

As my dear old dad used to say "gonna be dumb, you got to be tough". Guys are out there with 1/4 million dollar race cars including haulers running for the same money it paid 40 years ago and youre worried about the cost of a few hundred more ? Makes perfect sense to me, that why I dont do it any more. Blast away ! I still admire the people who can afford to do though, more power to you.

Dan, I have to agree that it is the principle more than the overall cost increase. But if we take this without any kind of decrease in attendance what will they do next?I was going to enter my first NHRA natl in a few
years and try a few more points meets, but I have about 11 IHRA races within a 3 hour tow so I think I'll just save my time and money.
