I couldn't agree more with Tom as far as sacrificing many things just to race. Sportsman racers were here long before the so called Pro's. Local tracks and racers will survive without the Kenny Bernsteins or any of the pro's that came before or after him. The only big sponsored "Pro" that I ever heard acknowledge the importance of Sportsman racers was Bob Glidden. He said basically if it wasn't for grass roots local racing back in the bad era of the '70's Drag Racing itself would have died............

Im sure Garlits has matured with age but I was standing next to him 40 or so years ago at Miami /Hollywood Dragway when someone asked him when he was going to run again. He said " as soon as they are done running the ****boxes ." Anyone want to guess which class he was talking about ?
