I was reading the AHFS last night. I'm not sure, but I think there have been some changes made. If anyone else has noticed the change I would appreciate there opinion.
The first change is in the first paragraph. I will post NHRA's wording in bold letters. The AHFS is used to review and evaluate runs in Stock and Super Stock for possible horsepower adjustments. The review is conducted twice per racing season. The two reviews are compiled individually so the data is not cumulative. Runs included in the AHFS database are limited to final qualifying runs (Q data) and final elimination runs (E data) at NHRA national events only. (At events where class eliminations are run, all runs are included in the AHFS database. Only the first round of class is part of qualifying and therefore is part of the "Q" database.) The "Q" data and "E" data files are the official data gathered by the NHRA timing system and processed through the NHRA Information Technology department. NHRA "Q" data and "E" data are the only data files used for the AHFS. Does this mean that they only count the first run in class eliminations for automatic hp, and keep all runs in the database if they feel they need to adjust hp. Second change is about 1.40 at factored tracks. Is this new or has it been there and I just did not realize it. Runs of 1.40 or more under the index will be reviewed and adjusted as soon as such runs were made. Runs at National Events, Divisional Events, and National Open Events, including those at altitude factored race tracks, are included in the 1.40-second-or-more-under analysis. This is done to better react to any out-of-line indexes or under-horsepowered combinations. Therefore, at all such events, a 3.25 percent horsepower adjustment or index reduction will be initiated immediately. The decision to adjust horsepower or to reduce the index will be at the discretion of the NHRA Tech Department. Maybe these changes or what I thought were changes have been there, but I do not remember reading the AHFS with these words.

It's my understanding if you go 1.40 under your SEA LEVEL index anywhere including factored tracks you get hit right away.

Bill,
The first round of class is in the Q data base, the rest of the founds are in the E data base. They all count for AHFS. So you can make a run that triggers a review even if it does not show up on the qualifying sheet. If you go -1.40 under the sea level index at a factored track you get HP. I think Grossi got that gift earlier this year. |

Bill,
The first paragraph looks the same. But that second one looks a little different. I think they are now saying they will hit combinations that go -1.40 no matter what. I don't remember seeing that before. Although not in print, the rule used to be -1.40 the sea level index but they are saying altitude factored tracks and that may mean something has changed. The guys out west should call Glendora to be sure.

like Bruce said the second para has been revised. It makes perfect sence that the system be used everywhere. as the index has been adjusted for the altitude track. even though the system is not perfect that is a positive move.

With this new wording does it mean the 3 guys who went 1.40+ under at Great Bend will be receiving a gift on monday?
