I drove a stick car nearly 30 years ago, and last year I drove one again. I've driven them both ways, it can be done, and it can be done fairly easily. The two step doesn't make it possible, it just makes it considerably easier. Lee Shepherd hated a two step, he said the weird noise wrecked his concentration.

LOL Some of these guys broke more parts than you could count. It scares the poop out of me when I race street car stickshifts. If it wasn't for your Dad, probably would be a lot less of us racing stickshifts.
Where you been hanging out? Thinking of dragging the Chevelle out again? I bet there are a couple of Div. 3 Moostangs that would be a heck of a match up with you. Shoot me an e mail let me know what you are up to. jimschaechter@earthlink.net

Larry,
I used to run NMCA for points from 1997-2000. I have never run anthing like it since, I very much miss it. I went back to one race a few years back in Columbus. They still had a very professionally run race. I just can't run their schedule because large area that it covers.
Be sure to check their rules on contingency decal placement. I believe that they will only pay if you run the decals on the back windows.
I would recommend them to anyone.

Larry, the stickers do have to be in certain area for contengencie( ?) money. Have been going to several of their races for the past few years and they run as good a show as you would ever want. they have several class' that your hot rod could fit in. So check it out, however this weekend in Bowling Green is setting up to be a wash out based on the coming weather.

Heck, I drove a stick, SS/K 283 in the 70's and 80's, without any electronics, just an Accel dual point distibuter, small gold coil, rapping near 10 grand on the old Moroso cable drive tach [which I still have,on my trophy shelf], won 2 Mile-high nationals, all with a total of about 5 grand in an old Chevy II sedan that I bought for 25 bucks. On top of that I only popped 3 engines in 20 years of racing small block stick cars. Of course at 70 years young, it's like the tee shirt my son got for me, that says "The older I get, the faster I was". Keep up all the good talk on this web site it's great entertainment for this old drag racer.
