Will a gear change help a redlighting problem in my bracket car?

I just went from a 4.56 to a 4.33 in my bracket car has about the same 60's and runs 6.90's in the 1/8th. Mind you i have a glide in mine but even this small change moved my spot on the bulb a noticeable amount. I went from having to hang on the bulb just a bit to being able to just let go like it was the top bulb. car weighs 2850 with driver. this is with a small block leaving at 3000 Rpm. with 32lbs of pressure in the fronts. 26" tall fronts. car wont yank the tire out of the beam so if yours is already picking it up out of the beams i dont know whether the gears will help.

I know this is big motor , what the intake center line, whats the duration , Tying down the front end .Try slowing down the carburator . Can you post your et and mph in the quarter . Does this car wheel stand .

I don`t know if anybody still makes them, but about 15 years ago, a buddy ran a bracket 70 Duster with a 440, and the headers that he used were from Bill Bagshaw, all the tubes went inside the frame rails, (I think) so that tire fitment was not an issue.

The vast majority of bracket racers use a delay box. This is a sure fire way to correct your red lighting problem.

i beg to differ... there are just as many racers that run in a "footbrake" or "No-e" class and delay boxes are illegal. there is more to bracket racing than big block dragsters.... i still have no idea how some people consider bracket racing different from stock/SS yea there are more rules as far as motor and car combo but the 99% of the rules on the track are exactly the same....

I dont consider this particular car extremly competitive in the "Box" classes.However it's as good as anybodys in the Footbrake classes.Our Footbrake class pays the same as our Pro class.And I dont have any desires to jump in to the S/Pro class where I can watch dragsters in the mirror chase my little Duster down at 150MPH plus!
I thought footbraking would prepare me to drive my first stocker someday. But now you guys are hanging buttons all over your cars.-----sorry different debate.
Yesterday I took my control arm rubber stoppers completly out,Dropped the front end a little more,Installed 2nd throttle return spring,dropped front tire press to 22.
Going to T&T tonight----- Car may be For Sale tommorow!
Will also get a couple .5 pro trees Thats going to be ugly!!

I would have to say that after last night I am still pretty lost..
I took one a .5 pro tree leaving at 1500 I was .077
Too bad the driver is struggling The last 3 passes I ran all out (not pinks) Car went 7:08.9 7:08.9 7:08.6

This exactly what I want right here! The courage to rip it without fear as long as I know I HAVE to see it come on.
So does this prove my theroy that changing rear gear ratios will have the same overall effect as changing gear ratios in the trans? Just a lot cheaper Maybe a 4:30 or 4:10 will be enough.

DOORSLAMMER: Its a .550 lift Crower flat tappet Cant remember the other specs right now.Better not have to change my cam to fix this car------ALTHOUGH this motor used to be in a heavier car and I selected this small cam because the other car was a real dog footbraking.
When you say "slow down the carb" You talking a heavier spring?

Do you have adjustable shocks in the rear? Perhaps softening them up a few clicks would also soften the "hit" of the car coming out of the hole?
