You write a letter to the NHRA asking for a HP reduction on a particular combination. If the committee thinks it has merit, they will drop the factor some, usually about 2.5 to 3%. You can send an e-mail to ahfs@nhra.com.

I have sent a letter to them twice a year for three years and the results have been a reply that the HP factor is correct. It does not need to reduced.

My buddy Mike wrote a letter and got some HP taken off his combo. He's afraid his efforts at Topeka may get him some of it back though.

A one time hit of under 1.40 at a national meet is not going to get horsepower.

Tony 1.40 under at anyplace besides Div. 6 will get you a 3.25% adjustment Monday after the race. I know I have gotten 3.25% twice, and every time my radiator did not leak a drop.

What ever happened to being responsible for ones actions.

I should have said less than 1.40 or between 1.15 and 1.399 under one time is not going to get one horsepower.

I can tell you from personal experience via a friend that this process is broken. My friend submitted a request last summer for his combo and as of today he has not gotten any response. He emailed the former div 2. s/ss committe rep, division director, and the national tech director his request. When he attended the Carolina Nationals he cornered the Glendora guy and asked him about it; the guys says he never saw it, my friend produces a email with the tech directors name along with delivery reciept and he says oh it must have gotten mixed up. He was promised an answer by Finals last year, never got one. He called back at the beginning of the year and he was told it would be reviewed before Mar 09 with some that were left over from 2008 and it didn't happen. So now it's almost that time again, will it show up by 30 June in ND or NHRA online, I'm not holding my breath. I know one thing, if it was me I'd be speaking to the tech directors boss, there know excuse for not getting this done when you follow their rules.
