It does not just happen at Norwalk. Last year at the Atlanta national event, at least two people had things stolen from their motorhomes, for a total of $3-4K.
We were pitted right next to the campground at Norwalk, we kept the motorhome locked when we left. We kept the keys to the golf cart locked away too. There was a good mix of racers in the pit areas, we had a S/G car on one side, a S/C dragster on the other, and a couple of S/S racers close by as well. Most of the spectators are good people too, it's just that there are thieves in most every crowd. From what I understand, Norwalk may have worse problems with thieves because of the close proximity of campers to racers, but like I said, there have been thieves at plenty of other tracks. Yeah, it'd be nice if a couple of the scumbags got caught and ended up toting an *** whipping for their trouble. It'd send a good message.

We have been lucky, but I was thinking of buying a small firesafe big enough for wallets' cell phones, etc. They are cheap to buy and cn be bolted down in a trailer or rv.
They still hang horse thieves don't they?

I was at a Pro Star race at RT66 in 2000 when someone rode out on a brand new Hayabusa out of someone's pits. It happens everywhere.
At least my bike got stolen from my home at night. |

i think its time for survalince cameras in the pits,my local junk yard has 4 tall poles with the 360 degree camera and it covers the entire yard.but that is up to the track owner, nowdays each racer has tons invested for some low life asshole to help them selves when the driver is in the lanes

I'm glad we kept our motorhome locked when we weren't there!
We got back home last night around 10 after stopping and meeting Thomas Arnett for supper at a little place close to where he lives. Daryl (442 Olds)--the thousands in the stands that went wild were mostly super stock racers!! Well, we are listening to the audiocast on NHRA. The race has finally started. Sportsmen don't race until after 2 rounds of pros. I will probably have time to go out and mow the yard and still hear Round 5. Good luck to our good friends Paul and Debbie Boster. He has a hard round against Fetch this round. Go Paul!! Patsy |
