Derek is great on and off the field and he deserves the spotlight......2009 could very well be number 27 in the Bronx and I am sure there will be some great games in the playoffs no natter who wins it all....

Good luck down at E-Town as I'm sure your either there or will be.....Say hello to Sam for me...

Ang-
Some of us in this household are Met fans, some of us are Yankee fans... but tonight, we agreed, we are all Jeter fans.

Rich-
Sunday should be a great day. Have a great time! Yes, I think this is going to be the year! I am not at e-town yet, might head out in the A.M. after I get the weather report from Jack or Kenny in this live report section.. I am only an hour from there.

Bill
- I decided to head down in the morning - w/the weathter - traffic etc - I wouldn't have made it by 9 PM.
- I have to get the cage recertified so I will be there even if its pouring.

Sal
- I hear ya.... Jeter really is a class act (especially these days the way celebs and athletes act). It was fitting that he break Gehrig's record on 9/11. He deserves it... I mean...what could be better than being the statrting shortstop for the Yankees all these years.

see ya'll tomorrow.

Talking Re: Live from Englishtown-NHRA Lucas Oil Series

7:30 AM EST ---- For those of you waiting for an early word as to today's weather here's the deal -- get on the road - it hasn't rained most of the night and isn't now -- seems like we're drying out - the Sun coming out would be nice but let's not push it .Wow --- I can't believe my eyes - there is a Security guy in the staging lanes drying off his four door Focus -- a very welcomed sight ! Anyway its overcast with the temp in the lo 60's but for a change looking up -- so like Bob Barker would say - "Come on down " . Sure hope I haven't steered you folks wrong.....This weather has been as fickle as a Gemini woman ......Later............

One last thing -- Today is Gloria Ley's 50th birthday so if you're here and see her make sure to wish her well .Today she'll be working the lanes so keep an eye out for her . Fifty Gloria really -- David is sooooooo lucky and he has told me so many times in the last couple of years .
PS -- Gates are now open and the first one in was SS# 176 -- you know who that is don't you ? Many , many racers waited till today to show up -- space is now filling up fast ........

Thanks Jack for the updates, I was on the fence about coming down and being a spectator today but I'll take my shot and come on down to the track..

Sal and Rich,

Those of us that are Red Sox fans even like Jeter-he plays all out, as exemplified by that catch he made running into the seats a few years back in the 12th or 13th innings. Plus he is a first class act, unlike the guy who plays 3B for the Yankees.

The track was better when Eddie was manager. After he went pro (PSM) it has been back to slip and slide.

Eddie would be out there spraying bald spots with his bug sprayer to give racers the best track possible on any given Sunday. He would also mix traction compound before spraying to give the dead hook we were looking for. Cars that needed to turn the tire did suffer with his good work though. Pro, Alcohol and Comp cars are looking for wheel speed down low.

Don't know whether it is what is being sprayed, how much or how little is applied or how it is applied, but the track generally s***s in the summer. As soon as the sun looses its power the track tightens up and here we go. But you have to get to that point in the eliminator to risk breaking out.

Atco will give us a great track and you fellas will be on the bumper!
