I with the exception of the Aisen transmissions that come in the new Dodge Cab and Chassis, I don't think any Cummins powered Dodge has ever had anything but a Mopar automatic of some sort behind it. Until the six speed automatic that is now availble, the manual was always the better choice. Bill |

Bill,
I just googled the '89 Dodge diesel pickup options. The 1st generation could be had with a manual or a 3 speed automatic. I could not find anything on what the model of the auto was. All 3 of the Dodge's I have owned had a Mopar automatic for a transmission. As stated the 2002 trans was junk., I think only produced 1 year. The best thing about my 2005 is fuel mileage. 22+ at 75 on the interstate! 18+ stop and go. #5457 Curt Rees
