Any way of adjusting is allowable. The rule states it must be out of the reach of the driver.

I have mine hooked to the factory brake light switch. Work very well connected there, except when I redlight.....

I the idea for a 3-step is 1 for the water box. 1 for the starting line & 1 for OH! Shxx!!!!
