Are you sure about that? Thought the 077 was an original OEM #...anyway all I've used is the 401

According to NHRA 074,077,and 401 are legal for the 427-430 H.P. (L88) engine 1969.

There are several reasons to use the 401. Availability, cost, condition, and performance are a few.

What Alan said. Port design, combustion chamber, durability. You can sell 077 heads as collector items for more than 401 heads cost and the 401 heads make more hp.

What everyone is saying is that the 401s are not exact copies of the originals. Use them if want to get the most for your money.
