The AHFS will impact very few combinations with the new indexs. The HP committees job just got alot easier.

The new Mustangs and Mopars will most likely never see an adjustment.

The proper way to adjust horsepower ratings is to take the average under the index runs of each car/engine combination and average them against each other.

Example: car/engine average for combination X = .95 under index
car/engine average for combination Y = .75 under index

The HP needs to be adjusted for up (raised) for combination X or lowered (decreased) for combination Y.

They aren't reinventing the wheel or performing brain surgery here.

Or they could've just moved the trigger up .15, which is primarily what they've done. It just won't LOOK like a -1.55 under run on paper next time. Now guys can race to 1,150'. Maybe they can put a cone out there for that. Congratulations, NHRA, you've accomplished.... um.... something, I guess.

Talking Re: Index Change

NHRA could have approached the indexes a different way. They could've just made a valve spring pressure rule that would slow everyone up. Make it so that the pressure can't exceed 150 lbs on the seat. But NHRA doesn't want to work for their membership money which means testing pressures of the valve springs.

Div. and opens only count if you go fast enough for instant hp. 1.25 under the new indexes.
