Ed is right. The manufacturer fills out a form with the vehicle data and submits it to NHRA. Then NHRA approves (or not) and inserts it into the guide. However, if no one at the manufacturer is interested in drag racing, then there is no one to send in the data. In this case, it generally takes a racer contacting the manufacturer to get the ball moving.

As for defunct manufacturers, I guess you'd first have to find someone at the parent company to access the data, then I guess NHRA would have to decide what to do.
