Yes we did some crazy things back then. I stood in front of a cop car (with lights and sirens) one time so we could get the race off. They were actually pushing me with there bumper.

That was one fast poncho. I believe they kept the car at Staten Island Speed. Paul Blevins was around once in a while with them. The first real prostock motor in a street race car (not counting the bought ones) Kevin Codd was a wizard with the tuning. And Elliot Wakem, was Elliot Wakem LOL
I made it a habit not to be around when that car was out. Never had to explain things that way. We knew what we needed to beat the car, and knew there was no way we were going to get it.
My partner Ray (Tex) Cook was partners with George Elliot (Hemi guy) before I was partners with Tex. And they donated to the Elliot Wakem cause a few times.

I ran into him at Z-max last Sept. on Sunday of the National event just before the 4 lane TF and FC exhibition runs. I go to E-town every year, for all 4 days, but I never run into him there.

Ah, ok. I thought it was Ray that had the gas station right at the Bayonne Bridge after I read the caption for this photo (I think Norman Blake wrote the captions - do you and Ray know Norman well?):

What year was this photo taken, Art? Also, can you tell me some specs on it? Whatever happened to it? It looks like it definitely was a street king!

Joe,I never went up to the Bronx. All my trips were to Connecting Hwy,Laurel Hill Blvd, Review Ave and the Condiut and Crossbay Blvd in Queens.Very rarely we went to Maurice Ave and Francis Lewis Blvd.In Brooklyn we went to Columbia St,3rd Ave and very rarely Fountain Ave.
The Village was never a car area.I hung out in Rockaway Beach with all my Irish alcy friends.

Joe,did you have bells like Arties?

Hey Ed
I supplied the photos and the right info to the Editor, he decied to use it in his own way. He is the one who screwed up the info, not me. No one's names were suppose to be spcifically mentioned either. I was pretty miffed when this came out.
Art, you should tell them the whole story about that night in Staten Island with the Nova and how it ended for everyone involved. Remember Ray passing the cops. Also the other one about Froggys car on the Trailer out at 150th Street and Tex looking for his dog! They should all get a kick out of that one,LOL!!
