I saw Ray a lot up at Island over the years and always said hello.....I liked the "Famous Ray" nickname......he was always smiling and often was in the diner after the races.......He was driving a comp car now and then....and I think hung out with Emil E's group.......

That was "Fomerly Famous Ray Cook". Even in the comp car he was good he just didn't have the power.

DROOZE POSTED:

We still have built a legal car in less time than any other DP team. By nearly a month if you count it at Saturday.

CORRECTION, MY CAR WAS PUT TOGETHER IN 3 WEEKS AFTER IT WAS DELIVERED FROM MPR. BY JOEY WILKES AND DAVE REDMAN

VERY Impressive, very impressive indeed.

I do have 2 questions for you, neither one of them negate the fact a)I Stand corrected or b)Am any less impressed.

1)Was your car painted, wired or plumbed prior to its return from MPR ?

I know several cars Mike and the Owners had for example painted while they were at his shop. Or plumbed or wired etc.

2)From your delivery (pickup from Roush) how long was it before it was considered, "completed" not neccisarily tracking just "complete"

If they did all the paint and plumbing and wiring as well as reassy in 3 weeks then I am MEGA Impressed, hell It took me 2 weeks to prep and paint.

So I guess 10 weeks (that was from delivery of the Shell from MPR to wired, taking off the 2 weeks the old man and my son were in the hospital) is well, 2nd fastest ? Ill take 2nd seeing as we did every single thing with our own hands, everything (well we did have a transmission done by Paul at TA) but other than that...........

Irv, I hear "rumors" about HP know anything about it ?

I agree with drooze and am equally impressed.

Maybe it would have been more appropriate to say that our car was built by the owners in less time than any others..

Doing paint of the interior, cage, and trunk and undercarriage, and doing the wiring and plumbing ourselves would certainly give us the edge in that category.

But none the less, no matter who did the work, your accomplishment is worthy of note. Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention.

No insult to you was meant by my post: mike had my car painted , cage and hood before we picked it up. Then it was wired and plumbed in 3 weeks working at nights.. Then 4 days at the uphostry shop and Wala at the track testing 1 pass in Bowling Green.

as HP is concerened the 6.1 HEMI only has 1 trigger now. And on my bye run I shut off, also second round I shut off to lower the average. Right now no HP but its a long way till July. Even if we get 5hp I cant make the weight. As long as no one goes 1.25 under we will only get 5 or so depending on the average or the trigger. 1.00 triggers 1.250%hp, 1.15 triggers 2.250% and 1.25 automatic 3.250 %. Idon know.LOL

Oh I in no way thought any insult I was just trying to gauge timeline, Paint was a BIG hink for us, and I knew a couple cars at Mikes were painted before they left, we just couldnt make up our mind on what to do so in the end I got to paint it.....weeeee (joking I hate paint work more than anything) But that and prep was a good 2 weeks, only myself did it, I didnt want the old mans lungs around this crap so, I t was just kinda like trying to sprintt on the beach, sllllooooowwwww.

Im still very impressed in the 3 weeks, even if the car was painted, plumbed and wired at mikes, 3 weeks is STILL Awesome.

The HP concerns me actually to a degree for a new reason, different than previous plans, plans change ours did too.....

What concerns me (and probably all you) is we are planning on driving the car more than previously planned, and well its a new car, a little change here a big change on the track......to say I have no idea what . where . when , it will run what is an understatment.

Plus 2 drivers that have 2 speeds full go, and stop (me and my dad) well....not so good at lifting...he sure is hell isnt. He ran a "saftey pass" full length , when asked why he said "It felt too good to stop" .... they didnt like that answer and made him run it again I will try if Im "drubbing" the car, but the old man ? Yeah and people think Im an unpredicatble "loose cannon" .... lol... Im the structured planner

Buttoning up some Chassis items tonight , relocating some electronics for RF isolation and hopefully tommorow sometime well be testing, this things fuel is mapped to a point of sickness.....the curve, well I could roadrace this car......Ive got complete mapping form 1000 to 8000 no predictive curves, thats actual, done and redone....nice map.....thing starts nicer than my truck.

But it looks like all the obvious gremilns are out, track gremilins tommorow.

Cheers

Chris
