Yes 66 How many remember racing on active airports without towers or communication. The plane buzzed the track, the racing shut down, a large flag was waived, the plane landed and taxied off, back to racing. You gotta love it.

Yes, 63.....And I ran at the old Orange, Mass. airport, a sanctioned 1/4 mi. NHRA strip, run by the New England Timing Assoc., which was still a active multi-runway airport at the time, although no planes were using the same strip on the Sundays we ran, sometimes sport parachutists would land on or real close to the track, holding things up at least once or twice during a event....Tasca Ford's F/X Thunderbolt, along with many other heavy-hitting GM, Chrysler, and Ford dealer- sponsored -east coast stock and superstock teams ran there often....Orange drag strip has been gone since the mid-late 60's, but it's still a fully operating, quite busy airport, w/a number of long runways... Anyone here remember it? WJ

I can vouch for that one..... a little red light started flashing when a plane was going to land......

Wow,46 posts and nobody's pissing on anyone's leg.Shows that maybe we can get problems solved if we work at it.With a little cooperation from the organization maybe 2110 will be a turn around year.
Still not many responses from uner 40 year olds though.Must be busy texting or twittering,
what ever that is.

Ed, this is, by request, an unscientific poll. Pissing, especially with accuracy, involves science. (Calculations of fluid intake, flow rate, stream volume...not to mention wind direction and velocity - I've missed a few legs with the wrong math!!)

Informality is cool.

Yes, absolutely.

Age 58

As always, size matters:

In our youth, we started out under the hood at the local service station, and bragging rights in the 60's were about the size of your carburetor.

Today, for many, a fart pipe defines performance, and our youth often start out button-pushing instead of wrenching and never go back. The claim to fame is now the size of your hard drive.

Sadly, most cars today are simply commodities, unable to draw an ounce of passion.

P.S. I actually overheard a customer in a NAPA store recently ask for a higher-amperage chip for his alternator!

Dave Turner, from the elevation you are pissing from, it would be easy to miss.
