If Bruton's willing to put on such a deal, it will improve our exposure. But the focus is drawing new fans. How are they proposing to do it? Rich already has a large fan following, which is what we need.

Gary, if I understand the way it would work, all stockers would get x amount of time trials. Your fastest time run would be your qualifying time just like it is at any stock meet. The Pinks guys are looking for the closest 16 cars in ET picked from the qualifying sheet. I did this with all the Stock qualifiers at Indy in 2009. There were 149 cars on the sheet ranging from 9.749 to 17.073 seconds. The closest 16 cars are shown below with their qualifying spot at Indy listed first:
146 A/S Tony Tosta 69 Camaro 10.454 82 B/SA Bill Hawk 67 Shelby 10.458 19 C/SA Sam Pourciau 02 Camaro 10.481 20 C/SA Bobby Warren 98 Firebird 10.484 99 B/SA Steven Welker 69 Camaro 10.486 103 B/SA Jerry Emmons 69 Camaro 10.490 23 C/SA Peter Biondo 69 Camaro 10.498 110 B/SA Dwayne Scheitlin 71 Challenger 10.500 112 B/SA Francois Periard 68 Roadrunner 10.502 113 B/SA Brian Livengood 69 Camaro 10.503 43 C/S Kenny Vaughn 96 Corvette 10.504 27 C/SA Amy Faulk 01 Firebird 10.515 30 C/SA Jeff Taylor 69 Camaro 10.520 123 B/SA Chad Loge 70 Roadrunner 10.534 37 C/SA Bud Rowe 94 Camaro 10.535 39 C/SA Ed Bennett 96 Corvette 10.539 There is a .085 spread between the quickest and slowest of the 16. In a hands drop race, this might be interesting. Travis (Disclaimer: Opinions expressed and race data editing by me on this forum are exactly that, my opinions and race data editing.) Travis, you are correct in how Pinks All Out works. All classes run two runs on the tree, two runs arm drop. In each class look to see where there are 16 almost dead even et runs. Exactly as you have done. If no other class can produce 16 any closer together, that is your 16 car field. Each run is all out no lifting or brake, if they detect it from your track times you are disqualified. And you are right that 10.48 group, if that is flat out time runs, would be something to see. I have seen those cars run and yes when the wheel go up the crowd will go wild.
Now do we start to see how much fun this could be. |
