Default Re: 4 wide Sportsman cars at Charlotte?

Maybe it's just me, but I hate the idea of 4 wide, wether it's in pro or sportsman doesn't matter. Drag racing is two cars at a time in my book.

I also don't like how the fuel cars run only 1000 ft. Why not reduce the mixture of nitromethane instead and perhaps have 4- to 5000 hp instead of 8000+. I don't get it...

I believe the majority of racers here in the U.S. feel exactly the same way as you...BTW, approx. how many good 1/4 mi. tracks have you got operating now in Sweden? Thanks and best wishes. WJ

I'm not a racer yet so I'm not sure, but my guess is that none of 'em could compare with any of the NHRA tracks. Most of them are former air fields. The only purpose built drag strips I know of is Mantorp Park and the one in Malmö (which is only 1/8 mile). As for the number, I have no idea but I'd guess only aruond 5-10 drag strips in the country, 3 of which are permanent (Mantorp, Malmö and Sundsvall).

Regards, Patrik

Its amazing how someone like Jared comes up with something constructive like he did about doing it for time runs thus possible to get more time runs like everyone is bitching about and is all you guys do is change the subject. This is why there is a West Coast rule book LOL.... Good Idea Jared

We plan on going to Charlotte from Belle Rose next week. We have never been there, so how are the pits? Is it all paved, so we don't have to worry if it rains? Right now, it is looking like rain on Thurs. and Friday. I know it is way too far out to be very correct about the weather, but I would hate to waste my vacation sitting in the mud!

I attended the '08 inaugural Carolinas Nationals event. Had beautiful weather....From a spectator's point, a 1st class facility....I had friends running SG that were pitted wayyy far out there, though....Everyone who has the chance should visit the place. I haven't been to Vegas as yet....people tell me it's the best, but Zmaxx is impressive, although from where my seating was, (pro pit left side 1000' mark, very high in grandstand) watching 4 wide racing simply would have been difficult to see all 4 make their full pass....still, both fan and racer friendly, for sure...Originally, one track was supposed to be used when the other had a oil-down during racing to prevent the delays, which seemed like a great idea. Now, it's changed to 4 wide- double track racing....Let's see if they fill the place up on Sat. and Sun. of the event....WJ

I have been to both races and last year it rained early but dried on both Thursday and Friday. The pits to me are pretty good. The access to staging is on wide roads and most of the pit area has crusher run or hard grass. I think its pretty good, better than Indy in a lot of ways. On another note, I hope that they don't run Sportsman 4 wide. I won't be able to get the great wheelstands you guys do. Have a great shot of Cook & Hawk at Indy last year. Hope to see you all there.
