First off, I am a MoPar kind of guy...
Second off, my bracket car is a 1972 A Body with a transplanted 360 Magnum, sporting ten pounds of boost from a Vortech centrifugal supercharger. I said all that to say this: I support MoPars every way I can, and cheer when they win. But a Stock Eliminator car that is "ONE OF ONE" bothers me on several different levels. Guess I was a tech guy for too many years, back when NHRA was run as a racing organization, not a business. Maybe if NHRA would let me put a 340 in my '72 Valiant 4-door (they actually could be ordered that way in 1972, only) I might have a different opinion... being on the advantageous side of things like that has a way of skewing your perspective... and as much a fan as I am, and as admiring of a 360 Magnum "Stocker" in 2010, I still can't get comfortable with ANY Stock Eliminator car that is "one of one." I'll get over it... someday. Good luck to the Teutons and kudos to them for having the cajones to run a 360 wedge, when everybody else is playing it safe and building a Hemi! Way to go, guys!!! Schizoid??? Guess I am.... ![]()

The nice thing about 1 of 3 is that they won't have to worry about the odds of any of the dozens of other guys who might blow the index away with the more popular 6.1 Hemi's. But that's just my view of the situation. While occasional heads-up runs are fun, I doubt I'd be a front runner in any heads-up confrontations in a well populated class. (But that's for a different thread/debate.) |

Yes..I agree...that's too far to drive and work so damn hard not to race....I hope anybody out there with their internet ears on gives Larry Hill a car to race asap...He works harder than anybody I know on a low budget to make it happen...This fact has me just shaking my head and thinking hard on who can help him race down there....I will say a silient prayer for you Larry and family that anybody and everybody comes up with anything to make your trip down there a worth while trip....You are appreciated by everyone and to come that far just to blow your engine is upsetting to me.....I'm in southern Cal and I feel the pain....anybody have any ideaks on how we can make Larry a first round show? Sorry if I'm over dramatic....

Well, we have run the first round of class. Jeff held Verne Buchanan off to win the first round of H/SA. DRC will probably post round by round shortly. Pendarvis redlighted against Russo first round of A/SA.
Jimmy Hidalgo was nice enough to offer Larry a car to run down here, but he declined. We are just going to relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Other first round winners: Kevin Helms beat Popora in a hole shot. Others: Bennett, Guilimino, Marshall, Pizzalato,Casey, Szupka, Buckner, Whalen, Hidalgo, Cooter. |
