I always shut off the fuel pump and clear the carb after each race. This makes sure I have no fuel left in the carb as I was having the same problem in my bracket car. Seemed to fix the problem

If car is sitting in a way that the carb is below the tank or cell with no shut on fuel line; the gas will bleed into the engine. ???

Do you leave the water in it or drain it out? If you leave water in radiator and motor you may have a head gasket weeping, after 1st run cylinder clear.

I once had a cracked coil that acted like that, when it cooled off at night it apparently took in moisture in the crack and when it warmed up it purged the moisture and ran fine.
The crack was so fine it was almost invisible. Changed the coil and the problem was solved. |

Pat Collins ( TechWest Racing Services ) is right on regarding loose or oxidized connections to the coil / MSD ; been there done that . It may not be the problem in this case , but is good advice for any racer.
