This will be my last post on this subject I'm tired of beating my head against a wall. Mike did win on that pass because of his car took stripe with the nose. That's because his setup was to take the stripe with the nose. If you ask Mike about what I'm telling you he will tell you exactly the same thing I am.
Think about this: You want to change the height of the beams to make all cars take it with the same part of the car...correct? I don't see any movement of the beam changing anything...you can just think about s/ss when you make a rule like this. It would have to work for every class. I'll run through the pros and con's of 3 levels of the beams... Move down to 3": Pro's: -Most door cars leave with tire and end with tire... Con's: -TF and FC pull wheels through lights and don't trip beams. -All dragster's will still take stripe with their nose....(the nose of a dragster will be under 3" once the rear tires grow to their max diameter at speed) -Motorcycles and dragsters have a much smaller chance of hitting the stripe beam due to small tire side walls.. Leave at 6": Pros: -Its the way it been for years with very few problems. Cons: -Some cars will take stripe with tires and some with nose. Drivers must pay attention Move to 8" or 9": Pros: -All dragsters will now take stripe with tires -Pros will not have to worry about missing beam. Cons: -Depending on the length of the nose on each door car all will take stripe with a different point on the car. -Now when a dragster runs a door car dragster takes stripe with tire and door car takes it with nose. What are you trying to accomplish?? It seems to me no matter how high you make the beam there will always be problems.... BH |

Parity...but I'll agree with you on two things...to disagree, and that I'm done with this thread. You made some valid points...so did Jeff, but I did too, and I have the video tape to prove them. Thanks for a great debate anyway....

Both drivers leave the light at the same time. The winner takes the win by a nose. Sounds more like the Kentucky Derby than a drag race. .............Jimmy Durante takes the win...." Hot cha cha cha cha"
