Fred Vetter was on to this combo 24 years ago but then it was only rated at 265 HP.
Now, with a 287 HP rating, these guys are still making it shine.
What about the Ficacci's '73 Camaro in this same group?

Thumbs up Re: Most Impressive car in Stock Elim.

I guess you also could just look at Stock National points....everyone's got their hero right now for sure, but who cannot be impressed with the Camaro's of both Ralph Popora and Joe Santangelo Jr.... Along w/a few others.....these 2 seem to be on cruise control. With alot more racing to come....almost anyone in the top 20 could still possibly win this title with a hot streak... Should be a great battle....right to the end. WJ

Billy,

Thanks man, that was a good year for me. More impressive would be how you can continually cut good lights with your car. I still can't hit the tree with my AA car.

I would have to say Steve Ficacci's 68' A/S AA/S Camaro. Steve's car has always impressed me over the years. Before the CJ's and DP's hit the seen his 68' Camaro was one of the fastest cars in the country if not the fastest.

I agree with Billy Nees, Bob Shaw's Cadillac, how can you go wrong with a 2.5 under combo.

Ron Ortiz
U/SA a whopping .5 under

I really hate to admit to this but I actually believe that Ron Ortiz's car is the most impressive. Where else is there a car with a unique cracked granite paint scheme, that goes at least .5 under, with a little 2bbl, and a 62 year old driver that is capable of partying with the best of them yet still can cut a reasonable light at 8:00 AM first pair out. And, has a great time no matter what the result are.

The car contains decades of untouched rust and Georgia clay, and is a hybrid from another '67 Belvedere, and are you ready for this, a rear quarter panel off of a Ford, a GM alternator, and the original 1967 wiring. (Hey, when I get the wiring corrected it will be a .6 under car)

The car has had multiple people in it, fits up to 10 people comfortably, as it has traversed the pits in search of a good time, some times in the Midway or the finish line area. Always equipped with tasty beverages and a party atmosphere, it is THE PARTY.

Other cars may be very fast with all the latest expensive components and technology, but this little honey allows the driver to recognize friends and relatives in the stands up to the 1200 foot mark, then we have to pay attention the finish line. Try that with your standard A/, AA/, AAA/ car.

So there you have it, what do you have that is better?

U/SA Shaw has A/C

Got to go with shaul, here's a guy racing with all the computer cars with a a 46 year old car that was obselete 30 years ago.

Honorable mention to THAT '67 Z28, keeping it competitive all these years is a great tribute to the man and car.
