Dave Bortman ran a shaker set up with a 383 on his 1970 Rod Shop Challenger, and did quite well in SS/JA.

I believe Boertman's car was a 71 383 with the small Holley carb???? Mine was a 71 383 and it had a shaker hood and "scoop-ayyy" on it. I ordered it new in the early spring of 71 just for racing. No other options other than the hood, an automatic, tinted glass, and posi rear. NHRA probably allows them on the 70 383 model as the street Hemi 'Cudas had them. NHRA seems to allow "scoop-e's" on everything else.
