We are all entitled to our opinions but in my opinion, all materials should be as per OEM in both stock and SS. That should include cylinder heads and any other items affecting performance. The only exceptions I would consider would be rods and cranks, replacing iron items with steel (of equal weight) does help reduce oil downs.

Brought to you by the same "group" that got worked over combustion chambers thru tech and then got them made "legal". Apparantly can't run legally with the fast stuff. By the way, this won't be the first time a engine has passed tech with titanium valves which were switched right in front of techs eyes. To prevent it, just check the guy with the shop towel wiping down the valves.

Oh, and for the record I am against allowing titanium. They are light, they are tough, but they are unforgiving as Jeff said. Also need replacement frequently if they are the high dollar ones.

I agree fully. It would be stupid in SS. I ran them in the past in Modified Eliminator and later my sprint car. They do also need the seats changed for longevity. I think the Honda rod deal was stupid also. Some engine builders just wanting to sell more expensive parts is all I can figure. No other logical reason I can ome up with. Had some out dated Comp parts on the shelf they needed to move?

People, please write NHRA more letters so they don't continue to ruin the little bit of Super Stock that is left. Its not about how much it cost, its about the sport, the challenge, the strict rules. Once you take that away what's left?

If they allow this they should just jump right into eliminating cylinder head volumes too. Tunnel rams, inline carburetor placement, smaller rod journals, clutchless transmissions, all completely uncalled for changes that were made. What was wrong with the previous rules?

Superdave, when you serve up a fat ball, it gets knocked out of the park!

As Alanis Morissette sings "ISN"T IT IRONIC"

" It's like PAIN on your WINNING day, A large piston which YOU already made, It's the good advice you just won't take" etc etc . Signed, Dense!

No doubt, it sure is ironic. Its funny how life works. But I still wouldn't want to bend the rules just for me. I still have the same opinion as before, no rule changes in Super Stock.

If we have one rule change we might as well make 10. Here, I'll start the list and you can add on. Then when we're done we can present it to NHRA and start our own class away from Super Stock.

1. Titanium valves
2. Any crank you want as long as its stock stroke
3. No limitations on porting as long as you use the correct casting
4. Run the carbs directly inline, we're already 95% there
5. R & P front ends so we can use #6
6. Diapers
7. Determine what the hood scoop should be
8. Dry sump
9. No compression rules, I saved this one for last
10.

I am not smart enough to add on but I think I love it! We both know Jim's bullet was BUILT legal as you have the build sheet and I was impressed that you and your Dad were there for tech. I guess hindsight was to throw some ice on it. .002, Heck, thats nothing. I hope there is an appeal in the works.

PS I leaked the Spyphish and it was perfect. Must be ring chatter, just like Ray said. Thanks

See ya' (as a duck) at the Dutch........
