Tough to beat one of these:

They're simple, inexspensive, work every time and are as tough as a sack of hammers.

Handguns have their place (like in the glove box). But handguns are best used to get yourself to a shotgun or rifle.

Its tough to carry a shot gun while riding my Harley ! .44 mag Ruger RedHawk is MUCH eaiser to carry while riding. I have a short Mossberg 500 12 ga right next to the bed when Im home.
