I think Jack came to Reynolds two years ago. It rained Thursday and Friday. We raced anyway, and had a good time. Come on back down anytime Jack.

Jack retire? Go west young man, I mean Jack!
Up side..............never rains, start and finish at Ponoma, west coast rule book, very few cars in A-C/SA, points races have 60 or so stockers, better used car market and they are rust free with 5 very local auctions, 4 hours to Atlantic City (I mean Vegas), no toll roads, did I mention it never rains.

Downside......1000 miles round trip to most division races, traffic like you read about, smog, DMV and auto insurance twice the cost, home prices are off the chart high, Obama-(I forgot, you have him too), it's always sunny.

And..............................everyone here is from New Jersey!

I am here to report I personally saw Jack at the Winters in Pomona this year and we argueably had the best weather we could wish for! Now in 2009 it rained cats and dogs and there was no Chieftan on the property that I saw. So Jack is more than welcome to race with us. Any race we have been with him has been gorgeous!

It didn't rain at the Valley this year with Jack in attendance. I think it's more related to the initials of our division. Never Ending Drizzle or Next Heavy Rain Area; take your pick lol.

Talking Re: Jack Maytas DO NOT RETIRE

Here's the thing - with the country in the "Great Recession" the last two years any plans I might have had about retirement have been flushed -----

Woody - Yes , we could tell NHRA stories but more than likely no one would believe us .

Alan - I was in Reynolds - but it was raining before I got there .

Charley - I really love racing out West and will continue I hope -- all the things you pointed out are great except you forgot to mention the freeway system - and its always a 10 mile ride to the 7-11 for a quart of milk .

Beth -- Nice to know you folks in the middle welcome me -- maybe I'll have to try more of your events - did go to Columbus this year and had a great time .

Doug - At least you noticed it didn't rain at the Valley with me in attendance .And thanks again for your offer .

Scott - Any part of the country could use a few more Pontiac's .

Bobby - My green card is valid in any part of the country .And it seems these Southern boys would welcome my attendance .

I was with you on most everything you said, until you brought Obama into the mix, and left out your "Governator" Awnold. It's during his tenure as your governor that divisional entry fees went up, national even insurance fees (plus license and competition number fees) were doubled, and we lost Fontana as a divisional points race site...now making it no better (tow time wise) to live in Arizona and race in Div. 7 than it was to race Div. 5 and live in Colorado!

Don't be so hard on our president, if you're not going to include your governor in your thoughts as well??? My .02

Jack, I appologize for taking this thread about you a bit out of text, but under the circumstances of part of 7423's thoughts, I couldn't let them go with no reply. As for these thoughts of your retiring, I agree with all here who hope you don't retire, because you're too young to retire (heck look at "The Greek", isn't he 86 and is still running in Top Fuel?). Perhaps the Florida sunshine, will change your mind? If you do go there, take your rig with you and have some fun out there...I think you'll be glad you did!
