FYI - AFB 4130s is for an automatic transmission and 4132s/SM is for a "stick manual" transmission. Be careful, often times the "SM" carbs are smaller CFM for better in-town driving; especially on a larger car like yours. Don't you have an automatic trans? If the AFB you borrowed was for a 1966 440 (maybe it wasn't), then it shares the same specs as your 383 AFB.

The article states he borrowed a 73 Carter 750 AVS. It has an Air Valve Controlled Secondaries and has the large 1 11/16 primary and secondary throttle blades.

They made AVS's for 440's in 1973??? Stumped me on that one, I though it was Thermoquads, the occasional Quadra-Jet, but AVS?

Jeff you are correct, the 440 AVS was 68-71 only. 383 AVS was 68-69 all, and 70 Low performance models. 340 AVS was 68-70. No such thing as a 1973 AVS. |

The point I was trying to make was that all the 750 AVS has much bigger throttle blades 1 11/16 on all corners than the older 525 AFB. It is also much different and easily told apart from an AFB. You can buy a 2010 AVS brand New from Edelbrock today. I was quoting the article and what it stated verbatim ...not stating that it was accurate or not. I have a collection of over 300 Carter AVS AFB and Thermoquads......If anybody needs a particular # measured for size I would be happy to help. Sorry for any confusion created.

Fellow Stock racers, please accept my sincerest apology in this matter. Chris and myself in no way meant any disrespect to Stock Eliminator. We had no intentions whatsoever to run our car in competition. After putting in the new motor we were plagued with gremlins. The carb only being a small part of the total picture, all of the problems have been resolved. We love Stock and would like to put this unfortunate incident behind us and look forward to a better 2011 season. Happy Holidays
