Cool Re: Internet rumors-what happens if IHRA folds?

Mike & Robert,

I don't think IHRA is going anywhere, but VMP & Rockingham are going somewhere else .... Robert, you make want to call me on that 400ci pontiac motor ..? I like IHRA & hope they aren't going anywhere, because we need to have choices where we can run ....
I was at VMP yesterday and was told it's a done deal ... I think it will be Div 2 , which makes sense .... Time will tell....

Don't forget. Bader still owns part of IHRA.

I hope the sportsman deal doesn't go away. I hope to have more time to race next summer. I liked running their div 4 races last year. Hope to run with them this year if they are still around.

Talks are that SMP (Bader) will pull double duty (NHRA&IHRA) in the near future.

While I appreciate the vote of confidence, I haven't been "on the inside" in many years. I'm just a racer. I do like to think that I approach things with some common sense, though.

I would hope that some of our more well funded class racers would buy what's left of the sportsman program. I think a sportsman only association would do just fine with the right leadership
We heard the same talk Re: Bruton and NHRA. What's there to buy? Classification guides and tech spec sheets, some fuel check equipment, and most importantly, from a marketing standpoint, a mailing list. Other than that, "Sportsman Racing" is a *concept*. What truly makes sportsman racing is the customers themselves.

Dave,

That may become a possibility. I also may explore changing the car to an earlier year. I presently have the front end off. With the work I need to do with the car, I may dig into my research a bit deeper. This Pontiac just might end up as a Pontiac yet!

I would think if IHRA really went under, Royce Miller and 10 other track owners would create IHRA2 in a hart-beat.

IHRA2 would have the identical sportsman structure, mountain motor Pro Stock, Pro Mod and alky funny car.

"Eight is Enough?" as the old 70's tv show said. Apparently it wasn't.
