No, I cross my straps whenever possible. I've got a piece of padded vinyl velcro'd on them so they don't wear.
I suppose you wouldn't hear this deal rubbing and squeaking inside an enclosed trailer.
I just wouldn't want to see them all galled up after a few trips.

We have been using those for over a year now Jeff. Fast and they work well. Unhook the front of the car, push the car back and they drop off the diff. Easy to hook up too. Great tool.

What happens if your front straps get loose and the car moves. Will they drop off then?I hope not.

Your still tied down front and rear as before, these are just a link in the middle so you don't have to crawl around the bottom of the car throwing the lasso on the rear end housing. At least that's the way I'm seeing it.
And since I'm getting big-fat slicks under my car, it looks like this will make life easier. Someday...like when I get my car back...

I'm failing to see what the difference would be if you had 4 standard ratcheting straps on the car and the front straps came loose or were magically severed. You would still have the same problem, right?

These bar type tiedowns are just an open ended hook.If the front strap/straps come loose and the car moves back,As Barry Polly said, they will drop off.A safety tie down strap won't do that.Clear now?Look at the pic of the tie down closely.
Now if they're hooked over the top of the loop on the car they might not fall off.
This is all hypothetical anyway. No matter how you tie a car down you have to make it as fool proof as possible.

the straps have a clip to keep them attached. these do not, if they go slack they could just fall off.

Years ago Joe Clark and Jim Morgan used Duct Tape and taped 2in x 1/8x 30in to the end of the ratchet strap and it did the same thing and it worked great plus it was cheap.
