It wouldn't prove anything other than you have a fast racecar..NOT A BRACKET CAR THAT FITS IN SUPER STOCK OR STOCK... It's appearent with the heads up racing booming right now that people want to see this.. it wouldn't be a huge change like some have suggested but it would give us more heads up racing.. for instance SS/DA ,SS/D , GT/C all run off 10.20.. It would be pretty neat to see a small block stick cobalt vs a big block camaro heads up..
I'm not talking about doing away with classes or combining classes. When they do run class (which is not very often any more) it would be the same way its been for years..But during eliminations if you run someone with the same index its heads up.. Oh well its an idea.. |

If you're inclined to do this just go run the Unleashed BS and be done with it...

I am inclined to race heads up when possible but hey I can do that .. Or I can run my SS/DM car when I want to in either comp or SS.. It wont be fast but I,ll have fun.. All I was saying is that it makes no sense to have all this money in a Super Stock race car or for that a 100,000 challenger in stock and race 3 times heads up all year..
My dad and I have been racing since 1988 or so mostly in Comp and SS but also in SG to PS . I love friday morning at indy its great !! Im not trying to tear apart SS or trying make it into a new class. My thoughts were that the more heads up races the faster the hp corrections would take effect. The dp and cj cars can run in bracket mode and out run most guys right now in there class but this might give them a heads up race in eliminations. If they are late on someone we might actually see what one will run. With new models coming out each year they will never catch up on hp at this rate... Oh well I have to work now Thanks Scott |

Amen! It is amazing to read this board and see how pissed some of these guys get when someone says 95% of the racing they do is glorified bracket racing, and they respond we are heads up class racers. I love Stock/SS cars as much as anybody, been around them all my life and I respect the effort that goes into making the cars run within the rules, Scott knows this, but I got to say heads up racing in some of these classes is a solo run or only racing one other car in the class is a poor excuse for heads up racing. You guys that are always wanting more attention at the track and in the press you may have to start thinking outside the box in order to get it.

Guys, it's called CLASS RACING, not heads up racing! Different thing. This is CLASS RACER.COM not heads up racer.com. And for the record, I'm not mad at all! Jim

Well I guess I really don't understand all the fuss about the factored hp on these cars then. The ahfs has worked like it was supposed to. The dp and cj cars have had a ton of hp and will get more as the combinations are sorted out better. Since its "CLASS RACING" it really doesnt matter about hp factors . We all just have to dial - in anyway.. Maybe what everyone wants here is to do away with all heads up races in eliminations? Or Combine Stock and Super Stock and have a 256 car no box race?
Nathan your right I just thought if it added a few more heads up races it would add a little excitement back to "CLASS RACING". The mass exit of people from the stands when they call SS/S or even running class at the US Nationals infront of 1,000 people instead of 20,000 is a terrible thing and needs to be addressed.Thats even with 30 Hemi cars that cost what a modern Pro Stocker costs. Most of the SS/S cars are bueatiful works of art and it's amazing how fast they are.. People just need to know about them someway I can tell this is not something you guys want so lets hear your ideas.. |
