Does everyone understand what has happened here?

An auto manufacturer has been allowed to advertise new racecars for sale in a drag racing trade paper. Buyers around the country will be putting in orders for these racecars. An agreement has been made to allow a place to race these racecars. Anyone who purchases one of these racecars is expecting to get to race their car in a regular class as currently shown. If a change putting these cars into special classes was to be made now that advertisement has been allowed, major lawsuits would run rampant. What company do you think has the deepest pockets, the advertiser or the place that allowed the advertisement?

It is a done deal. Allowing the advertisement has guaranteed that new purpose built racecars will continue to race in regular Stock and S/S classes.

I haven't received the new ND as yet....anything Ford advertised that isn't in line with what the rule book has said for some time (as noted below)?

"OEM may apply for inclusion of any special production runs into the
Official NHRA Stock Car Classification Guide. Special run must
include a minimum of 50 units of an already accepted body style,
need not be showroom available. Applications evaluated on an
individual basis. Acceptance will not imply precedent."

Not to complain, business is business. I don't think whoever is furnishing NHRA trucks and support vehicles will have a problem getting one accepted.

Not true, NHRA can change the rules or classes anytime they want to, it is their organization. They did it with the FI classes, I do not remember any law suites then.

Okay, I agree.

As a sidenote...the latest word from an NHRA spokesman at the PRI Show is there will be no new classes in Stock for the new cars. So any talk of a lawsuit threat would be a mute point now.

The new purpose built racecars will get to race in regular classes.

Yes, and I remember when NHRA had NO interesting crate motors or GT Stock.
Nothing in it for them...NO payoff.

I guess the money was to good for NHRA to turn down no matter what it does to rest of the racers. Just goes to show you how they feel about their long time dedicated customers.
