Ken built that car and it's a real SC/Rambler. It was built for SS/H with a 390 4bbl and I believe a G-Force trans.
The car was never taken to the track from all the reports I have heard. It was on ebay for around $50K by the owner. In the ad it said it was taken down the track and I believe it said 9.80's @ 138 or so. Frankly, it doesn't ad up. What I heard is the owner was afraid of the car and didn't want to drive it. That makes more sense. I also have heard from a reliable source the engine made something like 525 HP and was built by Barton Machine. That's a pretty pathetic number for a SS 390 and would not support 9.80's @ 138 MPH. So I tend to believe the guy never raced it. Then the car was sold by a dealer. I believe it sold for $50K and that included a nice enclosed trailer. I don't know who owns it but I've hear rumor it will be raced. I certainly hope so. Other than the engine, the car seems to be quite awesome. Ken Kier knows how to build a car and this would be one to own. The engine can be fixed and all it takes is more money! BTW - the '69 390 is NHRA rated now at 290 HP, 25 less than my 1970 390. It should be very competitive in SS/H and has the potential to be a class winner. That is probably the best scoop out there and it has to help. Take off the scoop and you can run it with a 343 4bbl @ 265 HP or a 290 4bbl @ 210 HP with the 290 being the favorite of the three right now; although the 390 would be the most fun. Just found the old ad: http://www.collectorcarads.com/Rambl...crambler/26768 Ad says 565 HP which is certainly better than 525 HP. Somebody needs to take it down the track!
