I know it's hard with scheduling, the economy, and gass prices, but if you guys can go, GO! I don't think you will regret it. When IHRA was over here in D5 I went to all of them I could. They ran a great program, more bang for your buck, a fun atmosphere, and good payout. I wish they would have had the support over here. I don't get it myself. They didn't know what they were missing. Just try it you might like it!

Thanks Shultz, it's my hope (just as winds can suddenly swirl around from their beaten path back from whence they came), that other tracks out west will follow R.M.R. & S.I.R.'s lead and give the "blue collar" sanctioning body a try (by the way that quote came directly from "Skooter Peaco" (the VP of Racing Operations for IHRA), himself (THIS WEEK)! I then hope that some D5 tracks will re-try the "I", and then the whole western half of the country will be able to enjoy what the easterners have had the option to enjoy for decades...I like it already given that I could've not only registered my competition number (for), joined the Ohio group, and entered a national event (without needing a grade point no less, for the cost of a national event with Glendora's group!), but I'd (thanks to NHRA's enhancements of late), I'd be able to use the remaining $35 for racing fuel!!! Talk about bang for the buck, huh Shultz!!???

If IHRA is so great, why are there low car counts? Just asking.

Quite a few of the NHRA racers have a stigma about racing IHRA for these reasons. They don't seem to be as professional as NHRA, very low payouts (but probably getting closer), majority of 1/8 tracks (but not in all areas and getting better), Crate Motor Classes/GT Stock Classes, questionable tear downs (pump and weigh for Record), and prior bad experiences in years past. These are just some of the things that keep the car counts down at IHRA events. But I will say that they do make you feel welcome, and want you to enjoy the IHRA experience. They try and overcome the obvious differences by being better hosts and there is nothing wrong with that.

Being you are only about 150 miles away I would suggest that you load up the Mustang and find out for yourself (IF they are going to have a S/SS Combo?). What else do you have to do at your age, you ain't getting any younger Pal. Give them a shot and you might become a regular. With all the BS coming down NHRA way, one needs to find an alternative place to race or sell your shix!

I plan on running some IHRA stuff this year as well as some NHRA races, as somebody said we ain't getting any younger and its about the only thrill I get these days.

Good Lord willing I will be coming out for the Nationals there this fall and then maybe on to Vegas, bout time for another Road Trip, Huh!!
