It would be nice if NHRA allowed a few events where you could run as hard as possible to set a record without the penalties......but they don't. Thats why the records are at altitude tracks. Go get you one if you dare.

Jim Hughes C/S can run 1.0 under at will but you don't see him setting the record probably because it is a pain in the butt (teardown) and pays ZERO!

That's the "Dare" part. 2011 is a new game for going under. |

They changed the altitude factor and the AHFS rules. Reset all those bull**** records and start from scratch.

Why bother with records at all. The new ones will be Bull**** too the way everybody will be protecting their combinations. Heads up Class runs don't even show how fast a car is unless you count 1000 foot time records too!

I agree with Altitude adjusted track records being 'suspect'. Answer to my post a while ago stated that the adjustment formula being used was one pilots use to help on take offs with marginal conditions? i may be wrong about this but i believe thats the 'formula' being used. If M/SA index was still 13.15...current record would be 1.62 under! Would that be possible (even the new index record) at a sea level track? Just thinking these records are suspect. No harm intended..if they are legit, good deal to the folks who set them. Would love to see what these guys run at a sea level track though.....just out of curiosity.

My last record was in E/S @ 10.72. That would be at least a 10.52 at a place like Englishtown or the Dutch.
My D/S runs of 10.55 in Arizona would be a 10.35 in Englishtown or the Dutch Classic. Easily. And that was 5-6 years ago. It's not that difficult to run "way under" in those conditions. It's not always talent, it's the weather!
