Well Ed, I guess that would depend on what your personal definition of a Racer is.

The definition of a real racer is someone who has the capability to build, maintain, tune,
troubleshoot and drive a race car.
Back in the monolithic era (50s to early 70s) a great number of racers fit this category.
Today they are in the minority.Been replaced by bracket racers, hacks (can drive, can't
maintain a lawn motor without help, casual racers (this looks interesting),rich folks,
and two race wonders.
I fit into the hack category.I have basic mechanical skills, but without Tom Goldman and
others (Billy for one) I couldn't even run the index.
I think I make up for the lack of mechanical skills with the desire to do well enough not to embarrass myself.
What I find amusing in this thread is the fact that it depends on who is going fast determines whether he is congratulated or demonized. When Charlie Bob started racing
his Mustang he was the demon form hell. Now Mr Skillman is the second coming of the messiah.
Hypocrisy and prejudice at it's finest.Go ahead fire away.

Eddie, again I'll say that I'm sure the Skillmans are very nice people and yes, Charlie Bobs Mustang (and the others) are deamons from hell but at least Charlie Bob does his own stuff.
