the problem is that these hits will be few and far between after a short while. Most of the hits so far have been very accidental or possibly due to a lack of understanding of the new system( no good explanations for the Skillmans) . The new cars that have been hit won't be fazed potential wise , but could possibly be moved out of stock eliminator. If you remember when these changes were implemented, Jeff Teuton said that it would end up affecting the older combos worse, and I think he sadly may be right. I can see more guys hurting their average in the upper classes trying to catch a DP or CJ, than i see CJs or DPs getting hit in qualifying. A small hit (from average, not instant hit) for the new cars is going to be much less detrimental than a small hit (from average) on say a 396/375.
Prime example is Bob Shaw's caddy. Its even more deadly than the some of the new cars (after what we saw at Pat's CIC race), but i bet it doesn't get hit. Bob is smart.

I'm with Art on this one...1000%; that said I think GTX John has more important things to concentrate on right now so I would vote for just letting this whole thing rest.

I agree with letting it rest, heck I don't even run Stock, however I'm confused on the issue of a DQ'd entry getting HP. I'll admit I'm not quite sharp enough to fully comprehend the ins and outs of the AHFS just seems odd to apply it this way. Heck it's their system I guess they can use it however they see fit. Joe

It works the other way also. they hit a class for a fast run but dont nessesarily tear the car down to check to see if it is 100% legal on the run. They just assume it is legal then put the penalty on the combo. I am speaking about the more tried and tested combos not the new "soft" combos as they are called.

I guess the moral of this story is:
If you do the time, you pay the HP. Or: If you're not sure what it will run, lift at 1000 feet. Or: If you're not sure what the vehicle is supposed to weigh, ask somebody that does know. I don't think this is that much different than what happened to Fred Hensen. You go quick enough on a losing run, you're gonna get HP or a flag. Also, just an FYI, the truck got 14 HP not 18. -Toby |

How would you like it if somebody put together a combo just like yours. But bogus as can be. Goes out and whacks your hp 6 or 7 percent. Then never runs it again, and flagrantly admits they were bogus? I wish everyone that got an instant hit was torn down. Thats the way it should be. But if a car is found wrong there should be no hit. If they don't change it. This is just a vindictive hit, just like I have gotten before.

Well, if the only reason they were "illegal" was because of the wrong year grill, I really wouldn't have much to complain about, would I?
I believe there is a lot more to this story. When was the last time you heard of somebody being thrown out for the wrong body parts? I think it might have been just an excuse to throw them out for what happened earlier with the weight and class "mix up." -Toby |

In div. 3 you get torn down if you run fast enough for an instant hit.
