Make sure the guides have either been pinned with set screws or replaced with stepped guides so they do not drop.
Deep interlocking valve seats are also a big plus. My AFR heads have this done ,and I've never experienced a problem with them, however, I've had some bad experiances with others that had stock guides and seats.
