The car counts are for sure a sign of economic troubles for alot of people. NHRA doesn't help with the increase of entry fees and along with back office services, such as licences and perminent numbers. The one thing that I can see NHRA doing to protect themself's from the having money troubles is to put a car count on the purses for the sportsman Eliminators. With the fan base dropping off, back office money, along with membership money can only go so far for the sportman ranks before NHRA pulls the plug on sportsman going to national events. National events will become pro events only, divisionals will be left for sportsman. Think "Monster Trucks" to kill time in between rounds of the pros.

i for one definitely considered class win $$$ in my choice of races. 10 years ago we could pick up $7-800 and pay for a trip. Even the $400 two years ago helped when you race and raise 2 kids alone on a budget... so i pretty much only went to class races.
i wont attend any nhra event (maybe a divison 3 to see my friends) anytime soon i went to belle rose ($772 tow gas) because i believe in pat's race format and the way he treats us and the way wesley techs the cars... i wont go to indy ($100 tow gas) because nhra jerks us off and the yearly fiasco they call tech. just my opinion, and i vote with my entries captain jack
