Watching the telecast from Houston today and it seems like theres a lot of redlights, late leaves and some confusion with the starting process. I didn't know they were going to keep using this style of tree after the 4-wides, but I guess they're stuck with it.
Any comments from racers here who've used this "new" tree,,how do you like or dislike it? Danny Durham |

I thoght they were ok. Houston starting was tight, but I don't think the new staging lights had anything to do with that. There were a lot of red lights.

Actually I had gotten wind that apparently this is what the future for the tree looks like and knew they were going to be using it at Houston, the day before, LOL. But, as far as problems, I did not see a problem with the tree at all. I like to bump in with really small bumps and I was unable to flicker the bulb like you could do with the old bulbs, in either car. I did see some people were able to do that. I had talked to spencer massey saturday night to see if he knew why they changed the tree and he heard that it was because "they liked the way it looked on TV" hahahaha.
Don't be surprised if we see this the rest of the year. On a side note, the stage bulbs do look pretty sweet at night. haha Austin Williams STK SC Last edited by Adub464Q; 05-01-2011 at 11:59 PM. Reason: put name |

I would think that it would be harder for someone that flickers the bulb to have that I know where I'm at feel.

A bulb is a bulb -- LED's just have a quicker on or off. You may flicker it, but it may be harder for you to see. I rarely do so with the Turismo, but still flickered it once at Concord. They're not bad, just different, takes a little getting used to.

Hey Toby, I talked to Austin. He said he blew a fuse, something to do with the taillight, as it was getting dark. Tough break .50 cent part.

Haha, well what happened was that I've only run the car at night twice now. Once was the class final at Belle Rose and it did the same thing. As soon as the car leaves, the power just shuts off. Well, I told dad afterwards that it had to be something to do with running the tail lights becuase thats the only thing that was done differently. So, we finally figured out what it was...
The only taillight that works (LOL), we looked at the wires coming out of the back of the light and the wires are just a couple of millimeters away from the weight box. So we're thinking that when the car leaves the weight box was getting into the wires, even if it just moved a little bit. Thus, shorting out the taillights and killing the fuse to the entire switch panel. It's a bummer, yes, but it's like I told "Cool" that just means I wasnt supposed to win the race. lol. To top it all off, about 10 minutes later, I go up there and give the stripe back .003 in Super Comp. lol. It was a shining 10 mintues for me. On a side note, everyone might want to check the speaker holes in your package tray in your cars. They failed me in tech for it because all I had covering it was cloth over them, on the inside. Nothing a little sheet metal and pop rivets didnt fix real quick. LOL |
