Scales are calibrated before a big meet.
The scales are usually open to anyone who wants to weigh their car. A lot of racers come down before their first run and weigh their cars. SOME DO NOT. As with any new rule, it takes some getting use to. Those who move up a class need to weigh their cars before they run to be sure they fit between the min and max. I would agree. It would seem much more straight forward to make the "numbers" the two minimum weights. Fall anywhere in that window, inclusive, and you're good. For a whopping 5 pounds, it seems rather silly to muddy things up...
