SST4530,
I have found the 40 spline MW & the 40 spline Strange to be the same. It is the 35 spline that have the different pitch. There is a difference in the way the strange & M/W spools are splined. M/W uses a full, Completly through, spline & Strange only splines the crnter part of the spool. With a 40 spline Strange you have to have Axles that meet or butt in the center of the spool. With M/W you can use axels that have some space in the center. I have M/W 40 spline gun drilled axels in my car that are centered in the spool. I altenate between a Strange 12 bolt drop out & the 9" M/W with no problems. Hope this helps. Adger Smith

Thanks for all the good info. guys. To keep it simple I ordered a MW 40 spline lightened steel spool. As mentioned earlier I can put it in any case MW, Moser, or Strange. Still need an alum. case if with 3.250 or 3.812 bore.
Thanks, Bill |
