I'm pretty sure Jimmy's wagon says SS/Q on it .That would be like the Cieri Bros. in 72-74
(15#) If the wagon was pre the 2dr HT, that would be in the same era. Jimmy Parker could probably tell us about this. I ran at 16 # in 73-74 with the Bel Air 4 dr (SS/R). Later , I remember some 4drs. in SS/T and SS/TA ,so they got moved down a letter for some reason.

I remember now, I think. There was a 12.5 class in S/S (SS/N) Remember Lingenfelter's conv. ? They did away with it for some reason (maybe 75?) and it moved everybody up one letter, below it.

If I remember it, I'll ask Mr. Bridges, next time I talk to him. And I'm fairly sure the wagon came after the two door hardtop.

As I stated, there were half pound breaks at least through the '76 year. Bob R. is probably right about '78 being the year. It was then that they consolidated 6 classes into 3 by going to one pound breaks, and that moved everyones class letter designation up some. I remember it happening as my Wagon was an "R" and then became and "N", but wasn't sure of the year. Jerry |

So they must have been 15 lb cars in the late 70's . That's only a move down of one letter (to R) So there had to be only one class removed at first the way I see it. I'm sure Travis could look it up for us when he gets home.

My brothers (Paul and Phil Berg) were competing in the class at the time and went to the Suffolk points race in (I believe) April of 1974. When they arrived, Buster told them that Davis and Skaggs ("Junkyard Dog" Chevelle wagon) blasted the record into the 12.20's at Indy the weekend before (remember the days before the internet). To make a long story short, Paul knocked the SS/Q record down to 12.16 that weekend! In a bizzare twist, some months later, NHRA eliminated "Q" with the silly explanation that it looked too much like an "O". Of course the record for R (the "new" class for the wagons) was set at a minimum at the same time...hmmmmm...Anybody that has NHRA records in that time frame will find that the Berg Bros.
