Too much indecision on the committee's part. This race should have been rescheduled at noon today instead of letting us hang in the heat till 5:15 PM.

Joe, this is the second year in a row that these kinds of conditions were an obstacle to running this event. Why would it be a problem to schedule this event the week before the Sportsnational? Jay is just a hard head and has no concept of the word customer. At this time of year most people do not want to be at a hot, humid dragstrip. Don't you think that there would be a much larger turn out for the divisional just before the sports than in July? Besides that he is taking the chance of causing a heat related injury or death. It is not worth the risk.

As Ed Wright points out, there are no races in division 4, or 2 for that matter during this time and it is often just as hot here as it is in those area's this time of year. Good example is the fact that Detrioit had the highest heat index in the nation on Thursday.

I was at Pacemakers, just up the road in Mount Vernon, OH. Had 4,600' DA and a vapor pressure of .92!?! Brutal hot, humid, and slower than Bristol, with those nasty storms coming through in the evenings, but we got all three races in, plus a couple gamblers/shootout races. Hung in there for a semi-final on Sunday, paid for the trip, and made it back to NC about 2:30am. Best part of the weekend was seeing my wife (she's been in Columbus since April with her new job. Still trying to sell our house in NC so I can move up north and see her more than once a month!)

If the weather was 60 degrees, 5% humidity, barometer of 35.00, and a DA of -550 ft., people would bi*ch about the AHFS.... oh wait, they do anyway. See ya at Stanton if it isn't too hot.
Kevin, Mike wasn't the only one that didn't come this weekend and I would say the weather was the big reason. Andrew and myself, Tommy Mattingly, Carlton Sweasy, Dave Walther, Chuck Bellanger, Ben Wenzel, Larry Hill, are just a few. My guess is that we would of had 80 or 90 cars in stock if it was the weekend before the Sports national race. Every one has choices and when a lot of us see the weather forecast of 110-115 heat indexes we decide to stay home.

Kevin, the heat was not my only concern. This track has a reputation for weeping and very heavy dew that moves in very quickly. I have seen NHRA run cars down this track during these conditions. At one of the last regular national events they got behind the sportsman posted schedule because of rain and tried to catch up after the sun went down. They crashed four comp eliminator cars before they decided it was unsafe and told us to come back bright and early the next morning. If you think this is not true ask some of the comp guys when you get to Stanton this weekend. You as a customer are being ***** on. And they don't care because people keep showing up when rational thinking would avoid these types of situations.

Ben has a spare motor he carries in his trailer. I haven't talked to him but I think he could have been there if he wanted to.

Who's going to show up to Stanton, it's going to be 88 degrees?
WTF are you? Why is this your business? I don't believe you are a d3 racer or even any kind of racer.
