Don,
A couple of the IHRA modified Corvettes you probably remember are the ones of Wayne Allison and Dane Pearson. There were others but I can't recall their names. Allison still runs his I think in IHRA div2 and I heard through the grapevine that Dane Pearson is putting something together. Doyle Evans of Jacksonville NC has a 66ish Vette with a small cid sbc that runs in modified also. Quote:

The 66 Vette was driven by Dwight. I think he was associated with Leonard Limia (SP) and another preson that had Auto Sports Center in Little Rock Ar. I'm not sure about the actual ownership of the car, but it was listed for sale a few years ago. It sure would be nice to have that car today.
I'm pretty sure Dwight can get my facts straight and tell us more about the car...:~) Dwight???.....

I'll always be partial to a black 67' with a red stinger from kentucky....but some of my favorties are the old modified cars too...
Ault and James 63', Reher and Morrison/Clark&Coonce 67', Larry Kopps 60' or so, Mike and Ed Stokes 62'. There were hundreds of em' and I can set and look at pictures on Bob Rices facebook page for hours. I love the video of Wayne Allison and Dane Pearson....awesome. There were several cars from our area too...Buddy Criscoe's 67, Sherrill Huff had several, Lyde Wagers had several, Jesse Campbell had a few including the Ault and James car, Jesse Ballew. They use to match race em' at ohio valley on corvette night, I was in heaven!! WIlkinson 68' is unbelievable in person...stick makes it perfect. Probably the only car in the world Tyler would trade mine for too. |

Where did Arts 68 car come from? I believe that the Red vettte he has is the bernie agumin/ (sp?) Butch Williams car. I believe the camaro is "Silly Bear", But I forgot where the Blue Vette came from? I would like to see pictures or Green's 55 Vette Super Stocker from the 70's/80's with the Reher Morrison Engine. |
